23 Alexander daughters on one farm!
The Pettershoeve Alexander (Ranger x Topgear, aAa 342) is popular. His eldest daughters will soon calve for the third time. His breeding value is remarkably stable. Alexander daughters easily produce a lot of milk with high components. They are strong, wide, open cows with a lot of capacity, superb legs and healthy hoofs. Furthermore, many farmers report that the Alexanders have a very pleasant temperament. His breeder, Herman van Dijk of the Pettershoeve in Ommen, has 23 Alexander daughters in milk. This leads to great satisfaction. They are classified 84.0 points average. They also produce slightly more kgs fat and protein per day than their herdmates with an average cell count of 51. In short, cows that are a constant companion for farmers. Alexander's dam is still at the Pettershoeve. She is doing extremely well. She's a farmer's cow that simply keeps producing. Her lactation index is 106, with a lifetime production to date of 67,079 kilograms of milk with an average of 4.76% fat and 3.71% protein. She’s cow that makes money for the dairyfarmer. Herman is very impressed with the Alexander daughters: “Once you've seen one Alexander, you've seen them all. The backquarters of the udders are often slightly lighter than forequarters. The teats are positioned beautifully straight under the quarters. That works very handy. And they all have a little extra muscle.” Herman has six secondcalver Alexander daughters. He explains: “They grow into wide, heavy cows. The progression across the lactations is wonderful to see, with their protein percentage remaining very stable throughout lactation.”
On July 30th, ‘De Bissende koe’ (local show) was held in Ommen. Herman van Dijk attended with two Alexander daughters. The Pettershoeve Leida 772 was reserve champion in the heifer class. The Pettershoeve Aafke 969 was present as secondcalver. As a heifer, she received 87 points for her udder. Unfortunately, her udder was not full enough to compete for a prize, and she finished sixth in her group. In terms of production and management traits she is a very good cow; just like all the other 22 Alexander daughters at the Pettershoeve.
As a young bull, Alexander was introduced in the KIK Magazine in 2020 with the following words: "Petterhoeve Alexander is a magnificent bull with super locomotion on excellent legs. De Pettershoeve Alexander isn't an example of speed in breeding, but with his solid pedigree and all-around high expectations, he might just be the best choice for your cows!" These words seem almost predictable in 2025.
