A daughter group that was very remarkable at the K.I. Kampen Open Days of 2018, was the Brown Vigor group. The group was described as follows: “ Our Brown Swiss group impressed the visitors. All six daughter had a super udder with slighly longer teats that were placed nicely squared. As Brown Swiss is used to have, the feet and legs were superb. Also the hoofs were of high quality.”
Almost four years after this, the trust in Brown Vigor is even higher. His NVI increased with 17 points again. Brown VIgor comes from the Margje cowfamily, owned by the Zents family. Today Brown Vigor has 467 milking daughters on 183 farms in his breeding values. Two traits in this breeding value are absolutely outstanding. First of all his life span breeding value is very high. Also feet and legs breeding value is outstanding. With these traits Brown Vigor can be very interesting for the pure Brown Swiss breeders.
For the farmers who consider crossbeeding, he can be very intesting too. On Holstein base he is average for stature with a slightly wider chest. Together with his aAa 165, A2A2 and BB, he perfectly fits on many Holstein cows. Brown Vigor is worth considering for all commercial dairy farmers.
